Subject: CPSC 223 Announcements: Second exam and lateness

1. I am canceling the second in-class examination.  When
   computing final grades, everyone's score on the exam
   will be 30 out of 30, and the weights will be ~30%
   for the exams and ~70% on the homework as stated on
   the syllabus.

2. To give you more flexibility over the rest of the
   term, I will waive up to a total of SEVEN days of
   lateness over the last three assignments (e.g.,
   2+2+3, or 0+2+5, or ...).  My current plan is that
   you will submit with your code a one-line file named
   LATENESS that contains the number of days of lateness
   that you want to waive.  Complete details will be
   posted once the system is in place.

   Aside:  These waivers may not be used to extend a
   deadline beyond the end of finals, unless you have a
   TI (Temporary Incomplete).

3. If you have suggestions for improving the lectures,
   you can either send me mail or post to the newsgroup.
